Shockingly, making more humans isn’t some sort of moral imperative. There is no reason we HAVE to do it. You could be sad about it (if humanity was actually dying out), but expecting or demanding that other people have kids in order to fulfill your desire to see humanity continue is fucking weird.

The alternative is forcing people to have children they don’t want just so you don’t have to live with the knowledge that humanity is done. It’s like throwing a tantrum because a film ended and you want more, then calling all the people who created it selfish because they didn’t make more film.

The story of humanity was always going to have a beginning and an end (barring some wacky, hyper-advanced scifi tech that allows us to survive beyond heat death). That’s just how time and existence works. Personally, I think dying out by choice is a much better end than say…ecological collapse?

Taken to its extreme, if humanity died out because that many people just legit don’t want kids…oh well? We as a species stopped existing because we didn’t want to exist. That’s fine. There is no grand purpose we are meant to serve as a species.

People being angry about others not having children will never not be the dumbest shit to me because — ignoring any possible religious or racist justifications — it implies an absolutely insane worldview.

Okay. Then we aren’t allies and you have no reason to have any expectations of us. Acting offended by — and making demands of — people whose concerns you consider meaningless is nonsense.

Otherwise it’s just one group making decisions and telling the rest what to do. We aren’t okay with that. Politicians are not our allies, they’re meant to be our representatives. This is how political discussion about representatives is supposed to work.

Try being open to discussions on minimum expectations for candidates. If you don’t need us to win, then what we think doesn’t matter. If you need us to win, then you owe us the respect of having actual conversations, because that’s the only way coalitions work.

Why are we fucking something up by actually attempting to communicate with you? I’m not being sarcastic or something, that is literally the point.

Maybe this ends up just being another blip, just one more small step that ends up forgotten or walked back. If not…well, then it’s a pretty monumental escalation.
