Weβre a holiday for those of us who identify as Black, African, Afro-anything.
and the ones who raise, love on, nurture, and care for us. Simple as that. Whether you are adopted, or your family is biological, or chosen, this holiday honors and celebrates the many ways we make family π€π€
When itβs relatives whoβve passed, I find it comforting. In my dreams, sometimes Iβm back at my grandparentsβ house down South and everybodyβs there. (And those still alive but unwell are in full health.) Makes me feel like wherever these relatives are now, theyβre OK and are thinking of me.
24.11.2024 04:57 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm sorry π and can relate / empathize. Love that you habit of asking your parents. You could also ask them and aunts/uncles/older cousins about your elders as well. Oftentimes people will have different memories or perceptions that can help you build a more robust picture π€

Since weβre here: I love that the diaspora is celebrating Carnival world-wide, donβt let social media & pretty mas erase real elements of REBELLION in our history & culture. My favorite are the Jabs. In TnT blue/red devil. They are the most vulgar on purpose. The enslavers were terrified #islandsky
