When we think of sexism, it's easy to think of *active* efforts to discriminate against women. But sexism also operates *passively* - like through our inaction on issues like childcare and paid family leave. In that context, return-to-office policies are sexist in consequence, even if not in design.

Also, I know it is a small point in the overall march towards fascism, but the idea that gender is performative and a spectrum is backed by science.

The *actual* “gender ideology” is being imposed by the folks who insist, against fact and reason, on a strict binary.

There are two competing narratives on this: science changed, or Republicans changed. You can figure out for yourself which one is more likely.

A) This is an interesting finding

C) Not linking to your sources when sharing poll data is profoundly annoying behavior

Girls and boys in our sample aspired to jobs of equally high salary, but girls were interested in more prestigious and higher-educated careers.
Girls were also more likely to enroll in university-track postsecondary programs (as opposed to vocational or technical programs) than boys.

Girls interested in STEM careers tended to be interested in either careers in medicine, or careers specifically in women-majority STEM fields like pharmacy or psychology.

As expected, high school boys were more interested in gender-stereotypical careers than girls were.
And, interest in heavily men-dominated blue-collar jobs was associated with stereotypes advantaging girls in language arts, and with beliefs that men should avoid femininity.

The finding that the LLMs were more persuasive when they loaded their arguments with false claims raises some serious ethical questions. At some point in time we’re going to have to ask whether laundering deception through an llm is any different than deceiving participants.
