...getting a driver's license should be *at least* as hard as getting a private pilot's license in terms of studying, and should be subject to retesting. Naturally this would be hand-in-hand with better mass transit for those not willing or able to get a license.

I've spent most of my adult life in auto-centric jobs of one kind or another. Much of that was as a professional driver, and spending 60 hours a week on the road (drove taxi and delivery for a local company) showed me that most people really shouldn't be driving. As far as I'm concerned...

I am pro-car in that I'm a gearhead, but I am also pro-this technology. I'm also pro increased requirements for licensing, pro mass transit, pro EV, pro safety... you name it. I'd rather my time behind the wheel be enjoyable exploration rather than stuck in traffic or dodging monster SUVs.
