And in a few years, they are even further behind.
It's obvious, but no one seems to be focusing on it. How many times have you heard Dem Party leadership, politicians, or randoms on social media saying this?

Pro-democracy, not left or right. Dreaming of Liberty and Justice for all. Looking for ways to empower Americans to restore democracy. Anonymous because these are dangerous times.
And in a few years, they are even further behind.

Democratic Party "strategy" is single-mindedly focused on winning the next election. So they win occasional battles while losing the war.
So, the completely ignore places they don't think they can win in the next election, instead of building a movement that can win in a few years.
They're don't have ears to the ground to hear what voters are really concerned about.
18.08.2025 18:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Most state Democratic organizations are weak, and local ones hardly exist (they don't have any permanent funding).
It's no wonder they are out of touch with the concerns of most Americans! They only parachute into districts they think they can win a few months before elections.
For decades, we've been wondering why Republicans win so much when their vision for the country is at odds with most Americans.
The biggest issue is not left vs. right. It's organization! The right wing is organized and the Democratic Party is not!
Putin being an expert on "real democracy".
Trump can't do this. There are whole states that are mail-in only! If states ignore him, what is he going to do?
So far as I know, it's really unclear whether mail-in voting helps Democrats or Republicans more. It probably depends on where you are.
In the past, Republican campaigns, even Trumps, have encouraged mail-in voting even while he was fighting it.
What a bunch of airheads.
20.05.2025 23:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Democratic Party should set their sights higher than just having these voters not vote for Republicans in the next election. They should be trying to recruit them as long-term Democratic voters. The entire Republican Party condones targeting immigrants.
The party org isn't doing it, yet.
Christ, the U.S. justice system is slow! What serious question was there about his guilt?
16.05.2025 15:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And someone with the ability to look into the future, such as an expert in the history of authoritarianism, could very well see the threat escalating. I, personally, have nagging concern that the U.S. could spiral down more quickly than it feels.
Avoiding arrest is a way to continue fighting.
You distorted my point. My point was that his action may have been the most effective thing he could do, for the reasons I stated, and he is continuing to fight.
In other areas, the threat to most academics is not arrest or violence, but a lot may have their careers destroyed.
Protests are needed, but some people can contribute more doing what they're especially good at.
16.05.2025 00:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Isn't the PR "fighting"? Maybe he's doing the most effective thing he could do, given his background. I'd rather have someone successfully reaching large numbers of people with credible warnings of fascism than having the same person at a protest.
16.05.2025 00:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Obviously, the publicity push is to emphasize that they, experts that they are, feel that the situation is very, very serious. Saying it is one thing, changing jobs and countries shows that they really are serious.
A lot of smart people don't seem concerned at all, yet.
So, I think it's helpful.
I assumed most people who read my posts would figure out that I'm angry about other things, starting with theft of our democracy by an orange tyrant and his lickspittles.
15.05.2025 21:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I actually agree that the marketing demographic "angry white men" of Fox-addicted conservatives who are mad about everything that Fox tells them to be mad about are a big part of the problem.
15.05.2025 21:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you're not angry these days, there's something wrong with you.
Or is your problem the "white man" part of my moniker?
Follow-up: There seem to be a lot of bigger fools out there.
Or people know something the public doesn't about the government pumping a ton of money into Tesla.
Trump did not say that unambiguously. And I haven't heard anything else to suggest that it's true.
I think Trump meant that Elon dumped a lot of campaign money in PA at the last minute, as he did several places.
Elections should be reformed to make fraud easier to prove or disprove.
Most people believe medical care is a right, not something that should be contingent on working.
We won't lack incentives to work in the U.S. if we have universal medical insurance.
Background: afdc = Aid for Families with Dependent Children. Program ended in 1996. People of a certain vintage, like me, will remember it is the "welfare" program that conservatives were always denouncing as supporting lazy people.
14.05.2025 20:05 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Of course, there are other ways the Trump is hurting people, and we need to capitalize on those issues, too.
14.05.2025 19:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Democratic Party ought to be using this to (1) defeat the cuts, (2) win control of the House and maybe the Senate in 2026, and (3) PERMANENTLY expand the base of Democratic voters, especially in red states.
14.05.2025 19:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My main complaint is with people whose message is "The election was stolen" implying that there's nothing we can do.
We can do a lot to defend voting rights, improve elections, build a much stronger Democratic party, and VOTE.
In the past, I have found that Palast exaggerates the numbers.
That said, there is clearly a widespread voter disenfrachisement effort underway by Republicans. They've been doing this a long time.
The last section of the Palast report says we should fight this. I strongly agree.
I see, a non-American trying to discourage Americans from doing anything to put us back on a path to Democracy.
I can't dispute "chowder brained", but we need to be fighting to get our country back, and you're not helping.
The GOP is, in fact, on a path to political suicide. All of us should be figuring out how to help finish them off.
14.05.2025 18:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Do you mean funding, PACs, etc.? Or do you have evidence of something else?
14.05.2025 18:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0There is, in fact, no evidence that it wasn't free and fair.
This kind of cynicism demotivates the urgent action we need to take to win future elections.
