I like how all three cops vibe as a different flavor of sexual predator but the dog vibes as the goodest boy there ever was.

Ran a game of Goblin Quest last night in which the goblins attempted to stage a glorious sports tournament, despite not knowing what a “sport” was, and needing to invent it from first principles (smashing melons with bouncy balls full of dynamite). This went about as well for them as you’d expect.

Treating myself to an hour of reading before dinner and The Wraith really is quite something. One of the characters is so awesomely manly he sometimes has to pretend to be less awesome just to fit in with society.

10k written in two days and I'm really beginning to understand why pulp writers of the 50s and 60s were such big fans of amphetamines and cocaine.

Those were definitely the best bits to play and it was one of the most interesting gamebooks to try to analyse I've covered so far. I think there's an entire gamebook in the trip to the Arctic (not the JH Brennan one though).

Found an 80s pulp horror paperback in a free book exchange (The Wraith by David Robbins). Such a rarity these days that I'm going to be delighted even when the book inevitably sucks.

Most trilogies should have been a novel. Most novels should have been a novella. Most novellas should have been a short story. Most short stories should have been a limerick.

It’s clear that the primary purpose of the NYT’s puzzles section is to give millions of people something to be angry about every morning that isn’t their editorial standards.

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five to speak to customer services,
Six to return to the main menu,
Seven to hear those options again

It's probably just a reminder to take more gentle exercise instead of sitting in a chair for months and then walking for four hours. I miss being able to treat my body like shit.
