I was 29 in 2016 and this is absolutely not how this person grew up. Most of their existence is founded in the Clinton and Bush years which was anything but sensitive. Terrorism, two wars, a reelection for W that was built off the back of the anti-gay agenda. Revisionist history is thriving here.
