The weak parts do setup the basic premise of the main storyline. However, it isn’t as fast paced as the second 2/3 of the drama where the character developments and many of the story arcs truly take off. #FatedHearts

💯 in agreement! I can’t believe I almost passed on this #kdrama as another teen drama until I saw this posting. The first four episodes is ridiculously good!

@tinacmml.bsky.social I didn’t initially take to #FatedHearts, but around ep 13 it really took off & became so GOOD! If you can get to at least ep 13 you will find the remaining 2/3 great fun to watch with all the twists in the plot.

I have gained a lot of great insights within this little corner of the net thanks to you all! I have also watched dramas or revisited some I didn’t think I would revisit & found I enjoyed it this time thanks to folks on here. It has been a great escape from the hellscape that is the US. 🫶🏽

Oh her arc was an unexpected pleasant surprise! I was rooting hard for her!

Then you have the mother/son dynamics. The mother unable to let go of her life grievances using her son to live them out while a mother who didn’t believe her son could amount to much. Both sons paid a heavy price for the sins of their mothers. #FatedHearts

Familial bonds was a large theme in #FatedHearts. The father/son dynamic showcased a father who tried to impose his dreams on his son, a father unable to accept his son’s flaws leading to revenge, & a father becoming the devil to save his son. All guised as love, but in the end cost them dearly.

#FatedHearts also showed how Yi Xiao & Sui Ge were equals. They each brought strengths to the relationship that made them equal partners able to stand side by side. I’ve never been fond of the phrase “behind every strong man is a strong woman” because that relegates woman as a side partner.

I really enjoyed the princess arc, as it was unexpected how she grew. Her ending up as the potential Empress governing out of care for her kingdom & people vs her brothers who never wanted the throne showed how leaders are formed through circumstances & not necessarily through birth. #FatedHearts

They each made choices. Begs the question was it fate or their choices led to their outcome? Yi Xiao & Sui Ge could have chosen very different revenge paths, but they stuck to their core values & never compromised on their moral compass while others gave it up for power & revenge. #FatedHearts

The deep dive into the different definitions of “family” & “brotherhood” was what brought this #cdrama home for me. Each relationship was complex, challenging, & some heartbreaking knowing the paths they took diverged from what originally brought them together. #FatedHearts

@jamesdmac.bsky.social you were spot on with how the last 2/3 made up for the initial 1/3! Loved that the princess had an actual arc & how flushed out the relationships were as we got deeper into #FatedHearts.

The complexities & twisted nature of the relationships in #FatedHearts are really well written. How the writers turned the enemies into lovers, brothers to foe, loving father & son into villains, & others requires a clear vision of where these characters are going in the script.

Both played this scene brilliantly. #FatedHearts

Made it to ep 13-14 & it is starting to really pick up! Might just make it through #FatedHearts after all. 😂 I need a map of the characters & how all subplots connect to the main one though. My head is kind of spinning trying to keep things in order…
