They’re just the worst. Y’all have my sympathies.

And bears, famously, shit in the woods. So this raises a lot more questions than answers.

I still find the charmin bears deeply unsettling. They’re bears, they don’t wear pants - except when they wear underwear - and yet they are obsessed with toilet paper.

Hey they’re at it again, going against someone else now. Greaaaaaattt…

Dreamhaven is an epic bookstore. Worth a visit.

They were great in their 90’s heyday.

But since then, it’s mostly been a mid nostalgia act. Not a great loss but disappointing nonetheless.

Half that particular band is a decent guy, but the other Frankenstein-looking dude is a doofus who always claims to “not believe in politics” (which always means “right wing, but quiet about it”)

I think I played at that festival. That was a weird one.

Also equally possible!

Yep. He hid it because he was desperate to be beloved by the goth/industrial scene. But even then his bad behaviors got him kicked out of clubs.

Then his transphobia came out and he seemed shocked, shocked I say that a scene literally founded by queer folks suddenly rejected him.

Last time I checked in on that group they were having a nuanced discussion about when it was actually appropriate to call someone the hard-r n-word.

They are literally the worst. Also mostly populated by terrible bands who aren't actually cancelled, just so awful no one will book them.

I also used to know the band that invited him, and that guy was...actually kind of decent. Weird, and sort of a prankster shithead type, but decent. But he kinda lost his mind during the pandemic and took his merry pranksterish ways into shitty trolling.

I knew that dude from way back in the day and he was always an asshole, but he managed to skate a lot with an aw shucks and "it was the booze" excuse.

He hid it well until the mask publically slipped. Now he doesn't hide it at all, and his twitter is a stew of far-right wing bile.

Im convinced he’s actually been dead for 25 years, and has just been kept moving through some Frankensteinian collection of fast food preservatives, rage tweets, and car batteries

Straight up opportunism. He was never going to get this close to the big chair on his own, but now he actually has a chance if President Several-Bigmacs-per-Day has a coronary.

I suspect Reagan would recognize it at least a bit. While this was never his personal endgame I bet he wouldn’t be surprised at how a lot of it turned out.

How is that man still alive?

Or maybe he isn’t. He might be a corpse animated by rage, KFC grease, and a bunch of marine batteries.

There was a brief period in 1990 when I would confuse Gerardo and Geraldo.

(Nor has it ever ended well for anybody. We almost invariably end up with a brutal right wing regime that commits atrocities by the hundreds, then is overthrown by a radical anti-American regime and we repeat the cycle. Except in those cases where the brutal regime just straight up turns on us.)

D’awwwwwwwwww!

I keep my prices lower than they probably should because for a lot of folks the only other choice at that budget is “no mastering at all.”

Somewhere in a planner’s brain - probably Miller’s - “create a precedent for Putin and Xi” was an explicit justification.

Trump himself was probably just a patsy but he’s got oil $ in his eyes and is easily swayed.

I mean…Warner’s not wrong, but it’s not like this was an accident. This was the plan all along.

Also, let’s be real, the US fucking around in Latin American politics is not exactly a new phenomenon.

I bet the FX team for “Fallout” has someone whose main job is digitally editing out Walton Goggins’ nose.

They don’t care, by and large. This isn’t the incentive people think it is, as over half of congresspeople and almost 70% of senators were already millionaires before even running. They could afford good health coverage and mediocre wages out of pocket in ways that average Americans cannot.

When I was a contractor, I had a lot of interviews, and while many were strange in one way or another, none of them really rose to the level of wtf-ery

30.12.2025 15:21 — 👍 3    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

(My friend was aghast, since we’d worked together as contractors for two decades and she knew my bona fides and had been on several interviews with me. She was _pissed_ when she found out about the surprise live-coding test).

I didn’t feel particularly bad about not getting that job.

30.12.2025 15:21 — 👍 3    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

But I, being a middle-aged dude well into my career, did not want to relive that phase of my mid-20’s. It was clear that the job was not for me, which was fine because apparently I biffed the interview badly enough that they sent an angry letter to my recruiter friend.

And it went downhill from there. They were super-alpha-dog-tech-bro-culture developers and badgered me relentlessly about “working the hours to make deadlines” and “being the hero” and I wasn’t quite sure what they wanted me to say about that.
