The CEO of a a multi-trillion dollar company went to the White House, openly handed the US president a gift made of gold, and his company got a special exemption to tariffs the president has illegally imposed.

Also, the Founders took bribery so seriously the Constitution bans it 3 separate times.

Just learned about this very cool conference and unconference in Toronto in a couple weeks! The premise looks very intriguing to me - if you're in the area and interested in the intersection of community organizing, tech, mutual aid, and politics, deffo check it out!

Hey fam, my new book, Read This When Things Fall Apart, comes out in three months. That means now is the critical window for preorders, which help get books on shelves, in libraries, and into the hands of the people who need them most. www.pilsencommunitybooks.com/item/vCQt68D...

Cheers to the reporter who just asked Carney whether Canada can really expect the United States to honour any trade agreement.

Carney didn't really answer it -- and given the sensitivities of the current situation, he was probably never going to answer it.

But it's a very good question!

I disagree. I will tell you what's wrong with his jeans. 🧡

The fact that CBC was too cowardly to film this is indicative of a much bigger problem in media.

When layoffs come, they tend to target journalists who are "problems" for management, who question authority.

This is what you lose when you only keep the journalists who are deferential to authority:

You Went to a Drag Showβ€”Now the State of Florida Wants Your Name EFF has long warned about this kind of mission creep: where a law or policy supposedly aimed at public safety is turned into a tool for political retaliation or mass surveillance. Going to a drag

The Florida AG is now fishing for personal data about everyone who attended or performed at a Pride drag show. This should set off every civil liberties alarm bell we have. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

We have a very serious problem in California.

This also happened in Berkeley, where consultants hired to create evacuation plans for the Berkeley Hills were *ordered to not study walking or biking* to escape a fire.

The result? The evacuation model said people would not be able to escape a fire.

My argument isn't that others couldn't do worse, but that there's no point in engaging - let alone making concessions - with a fascist brainfart who has no honor and will do what he wants regardless. Carney needs to assert sovereignty and massively shift us away from the US, yesterday.

After years of hard work, I am happy to announce that my book The Candidacy Calculation has been published by UTP. The book takes a nuanced view of traditional barriers to candidacy such as money & family as well as emerging ones such as online harassment & social media scandals. lnkd.in/gKDkMHqs

The best things about this CEO affair fiasco is how it is a perfect representation of what HR has become in every company. HR is there to protect the boss, not the employee, it's almost as if they are in bed together.

Lula going after US tech companies today sounds awesome, even calling out how the right uses free speech as a justification to target minorities.

We need a broader alliance of countries to come together and go after Silicon Valley so it’s harder for the US government to stop them.

This fall will be the first big stress test for US clothing retailers. Trump announced his first big round of tariff hikes on April 2 ("Liberation Day"), after most stores received their spring/summer deliveries. It's an open question how they will handle fall/winter deliveries with 10-145% tariffs.
