Remember, it's very much for a Canadian audience too.
Here's why Ford does these:
- to build his brand & profile across Canada
- to make him look media accessible even though he won't do big broadcast interviews in Canada
- to get earned media coverage in Canadian media outlets

More Toronto councillors & mayors need to speak in this language. Make the opponents to safe streets for all say they donβt care about a certain number of deaths & life changing injuries. Every time. Ask them what their threshold number is.

11 aside soccer season performance - 20 goals, 14 assists in 15 games.
7 aside single game - saw the keeper out of position and shot from half, absolute rope top right, best goal Iβve ever scored

Can I cross the street during the pedestrian countdown timer?
If youβre a downtown Toronto dweller or frequent the area for work or leisure, youβre probably accustomed to the swarms of pedestrians crossing the street all at once, along with a few individuals running (or walking) across the road when the countdown signal has a few seconds left.
If youβre guilty of doing this, you would be violating a provincial and municipal traffic rule. Under the Highway Traffic Act, you can get a $50 fine for this.
The countdown timer gives pedestrians a warning that the βDo not walkβ signal is coming and you should have started your crossing and cleared the intersection prior to that starting, said Sgt. Murray Campbell with Toronto policeβs traffic services.
βIf it is flashing, yes, youβre not supposed to enter the intersection there as a pedestrian,β he said, adding that the rule is enforced for pedestriansβ safety but despite this, violations βhappen quite a lotβ in Toronto.
This remains a very silly law. Most pedestrian signals only show a very short walk sign before switching to a long countdown. Complying with the letter of this law would mean pedestrians have to wait a whole light cycle at almost every intersection before crossing. www.thestar.com/news/gta/e-s...

Things that cause more traffic than bike lanes:
- Uber/rideshares
- Delivery trucks (UPS, Purolator, Canpar)
- Private construction sites/vehicles
- Drivers taking u-turns in the middle of the street
- Police getting snacks
- Illegal parking
