It’s frustrating how Mamdani gets tarred as a far left radical very freely in the media despite holding mainstream western democracy positions while Trump never gets called fascist or even far right despite holding Marine Le Pen positions and even further right!

We have to make it safe for students to try things they aren’t already good at because otherwise AI is a logical choice. They want to learn but there are material consequences of trying something and doing poorly at it.

Among the things that the shutdown is laying bare is this: so many federal employees live paycheck to paycheck while doing crucial, stressful work. The same may be said, of course, of so many other working Americans. While our oligarch class rakes in money hand over fist. This is not sustainable.

This criticism I usually see is that farm boxes (like farmers markets) are a kind of performative consumerism that isn't sustainable for small family farms (logistical costs/transport/fees). Maybe that's true elsewhere, but I think if you are surrounded by local farms + co-ops, you should sign up!

I've seen a lot of criticism of farm boxes #onhere but this is how most of the small farms surrounding us in NorCal work. They sell to restaurants, and they do weekly farm boxes you pick up at a distribution site in town.

No better example than what happened in the Bay Area when progressive DAs and mayors got elected circa 2020. We were inundated with the SF doom loop beat and stories about the shoplifting epidemic that wasn’t (which got a person killed), which ended in a wave of recalls of said progressive electeds.

If we put half as much resources into metadata and cataloging as we do into dumb AI stuff, we’d way better off in terms of the info/data ecosystem
