I understand you're not hiring a premium name midseason, and that his actual influence is somewhat murky with Barnes in the picture.

But this is a great time to fire Chavez. He needs to be gone this off-season at the latest anyway, make him the performative head on a spike.

I posted this before realizing they got Tibbs as well. This is mindblowingly stupid from the Giants.

Devers has obviously been hitting a ton and the timing is very weird, but that contract is a disaster and the Red Sox have a ton of young guys they're better off playing in the near term given that they're not a top-tier contender at the moment.

This is gonna be one of those deals that normal baseball fans will never understand but anybody with a modicum of understanding will see as an absolute win for the Red Sox.

Really wanted to try to find a spot for Ivan Herrera, Jonathan Aranda, Ryan O'Hearn, and Jacob Wilson but didn't quite work out. I'd guess most of those guys wind up there as reserves.

Witt vs Pena - similar levels of overall production but Pena has been the better hitter IMO
NL OF - thought about FTJ / Tucker over Wood, ultimately went with youth since that's more fun
Alonso vs Freeman - Pete has been significantly better by DRC+, basically equivalent by wRC+
