Centrists & libs hated "Defund" because it set a specific direction. They preferred to hide behind "reform" because it's so vague both 1)defunding and 2)throwing even more money at the cops to fix it fits under that umbrella.
Defund forces them to actually choose a side & stop fence sitting.
