I ran a loooooong FoDG Campaign about 5 years ago so my advice on a one-shot maybe suspect. @thegrampus.bsky.social is all top notch. The 'always getting the clue' can be odd to start with, given how other systems do it, but I loved it - I basically threw loads of info at the PCs....
