Oh and yes FUCK the cake worked out remarkably well considering my oven at the moment is an absolute car crash of lies and deceit and misinformation and self-delusion.

Oh, and the home-constructed garlic ciabatta breads were top notch too.

A triumphant day of food yesterday, if I do say so myself.

Breakfast wraps with delicious scrambled eggs (for 7!).
Fabulous Wagamama lunch.
Just the right level of spice & maturity for chilli con carne. (2 days matured)

And then the pièce de résistance: a moist & deeply rich chocolate cake.

I think it’s probably steam that does it. And, perfectly reasonably, the electronics cut out when steam is applied.

Good job I was up at 8 in case UPS actually came to pick up my parcel today, like they said was a real possibility.

I have to babysit my oven now, as the electronic control unit must be melted / melting. Goes a little haywire right now, when heat is applied. Tough gig for an oven.

The clock has never worked reliably but its desire to switch itself off mid-ovenning is strong, today.
