Using hydrogen for low/medium temperature industrial process heat is by far the most expensive option available.

Our recent analysis shows that heat pumps coupled with electro-thermal storage is the most cost-effective technology.

Unfortunately, this rate is also higher than it was in January 2025, when the average annual bill was ยฃ1738, so your bills could be more than they were this time last year.

Come to the Climate Hub in Stratford-upon-Avon (30 Meer Street) on Tuesday 25th November from 10.30am to discuss the rise in energy bills with Sian from Act on Energy www.actonenergy.org.uk/news/january...

Heat pumps are the most efficiency heating technology ever invented.

That's because they harvest, compress and transport pre-existing heat from the air, the ground or the water.

Compared to a gas boiler heat pumps deliver ~4x more heat for each unit of energy inout.

A historic turning point for clean heating in Europe: For the first time, in the first half of 2025 sales of heat pumps in Germany have surpassed those of gas boilers.

This is a big milestone, demonstrating that the transition away from fossil fuels in our buildings is not just a future ambition.
