If I were the mayor or governor, I would simply not allow masked, armed men to kidnap preschool teachers in front of their children. If this isn’t a red line for you as a leader, then I don't know what you think your job is.

Arrest them. Cut power to their facilities. Send out protection patrols.

During our summer exhibition 'Threads: Clothing, Memory and Identity', we ran a fun paper doll activity. It was a huge hit! As a thank you for all the creativity our younger visitors shared, we took the opportunity on the final day of the exhibition to picture them alongside their inspirations! 👗✨

I am really trying to get people to understand how much what is happening to our children in Chicago with regard to ICE abductions is like school shootings/gun violence: the random and massive exposure to this particular violence will imprint on a generation and no privilege can fully shield you.

No matter how hard people try to convince us having empathy is wrong,

it is right.

No matter how hard people try to convince us that diversity is a weakness,

it is a strength.

No matter how hard people try to convince us that love is limited,

it is unlimited.

This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

It is very clear the gutting of Teen Vogue is about silencing their excellent political coverage. Corporations want you uninformed and shut off from meaningful journalism. And they’re staggeringly successful at it so far.

Professors,

some of your students just lost their access to food. This will put a strain on their ability to pay rent and focus in class. They might need to not pay electric to make ends meet. They might be coming to class hungry.

Please be aware that the loss of SNAP will impact your students

As SNAP benefits are cut off, Chicagoans line up at food pantries: ‘I’m surviving. Meanwhile, in Chicago, hundreds waited in line at food pantries after SNAP benefits were halted.

"I work a full-time job," said 26-year-old Jazmine Blair. "But I still can't afford basic stuff and it's kind of sad. I'm surviving. I'm not living."

Appreciate this coverage but it is hard to explain to people not in the Chicago area that THESE ARE NOT PROTESTS.

This is people coming out of their homes, doing anything in their power to try to stop their neighbors from being kidnapped.

It is coming for your city next, please be prepared.

Imagine how many low income schools you could fund with that money. How many people you could feed and house. How much research into treating and curing diseases we could fund.

So, a child was losing weight (the implication is the stress of the Alpha School's methods) so much so her pediatrician recommended additional snacks, and the School's untrained "guides" (who are not teachers) withheld those snacks from the child until "she met her learning metrics"?

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

A Ballot Measure Targets Mail Voting in Maine - Bolts Question 1, on the November ballot, would set up a barrage of new restrictions on absentee ballots that would considerably affect older voters and people with disabilities.

Maine will vote in under two weeks on a measure that would make voting a lot harder for a lot of people, including disabled folks, older folks, and anyone who struggles to meet strict ID requirements.

If passed, this would really reshape voting in 2026.
