More hope that we, as a city, can rise up to meet the challenges ahead, whether they’re homegrown or from a petulant manchild who’s ready to turn our country’s bravest into a goose stepping parade. Onward, Portlandia.

It’s how despite many of our disagreements over policies to solve our challenges, we’ve united in defending our home from the malarkey coming out of DC.

I’ve never seen so much pride for our city since 2020. Yes, there is anxiety and uncertainty. But I also sense more hope.

That glosses over the challenges that many Portlanders face, whether they are unhoused, unsure if they can put food on their table, are in fear of being detained, or get to work because their bus doesn’t run when their shift starts.

Amidst the national attention that Portland has received, a wonderful silver lining has emerged. It’s more than just the memes of people sharing photos and videos this past weekend that show how life in our beautiful city can be so magical.

Since the WSJ reported this a couple years ago, Apple has implemented Stolen Device Protection. That's a helpful development, but you still don't provide more chances for bad actors to unlock your phone.

As the WSJ reported a couple years ago, people have had their entire digital life stolen because they had the misfortune of a thief seeing them enter their passcode from a distance.

Something I keep seeing in places like "know your rights" workshops is to turn off biometric unlocking of your smartphone in general, because it's harder for DHS to force you to enter a code than it is to hold your phone up to your face. This is NOT sound advice.
