3/ Message delivery is both key to communicating and makes people crazy. It's a tough balance. I've been told I sound like a politician, and I said "thank you," although it wasn't a compliment.

2/ They may think in big words, but need to speak in small ones, especially the four letter ones, and show emotion so people can relate to them as people. All that said, I've had media training several times, including at what was then the best crisis communication firm in DC.

One criticism of the Harris campaign I think cuts to the heart of the issue is that she sounded like she was running for university provost, not America's president. The 3 minute interview doesn't matter. It's the 3 hour so-called authentic interview that does. 1/

Having watched the full interview on MTP, it's the difference between a TV interview and a 2-3 hour podcast. To be fair, it was longer than usual, and they dropped the pundit panel to make time for it. He responded with clarity and strong message discipline, and explained his positions with depth.
