This is an extremely clarifying comment: these people think that this is somehow their war and they’re mad that regular folks are fighting it. That’s not what’s happening. Minnesotans are rallying to ensure their neighbors can’t be stolen in secret. It’s not even ideological.

It only works because so, so many people are willing to turn up to keep each other safe. And there’s no real precedent for this because no city has suffered this kind of attack. These aren’t trained activists with special skills; they’re everyday people pulling double duty to save their community.

No drama there, no credit. For the most part, nothing happens at all. No secret agent stuff. Turning in hours at the dullest make-work job of all time, except unpaid. Just vague unending tension. They’re doing it for free, every day, by the thousands, so their neighbors can be SAFE and can be FREE.

Anyway the real heroes of Minnesota are the countless volunteers doing boring shifts where nothing happens. The mom of three delivering food to 40 families in her kids’ school. The dad standing at the door of an elementary with a whistle for hours. The drivers endlessly looping, seeing nothing.

What real heroism looks like is you drive past a school and it’s 7am and it’s -3 out and there are four dads posted at every door scanning every passing car to be sure it’s not someone coming to take the children. And you drive by at noon and they’re there. And you drive by at 3pm and they’re there

I think this is widely unhelpful and the Senators who loathe shutdown need to be handheld.
The constant appeal to doomerism weakens the left and helps trashy mod lobbyists.
We need people to log off and go to the Senate tues and wed and thurs to make the hold the line case.

1. Love to see this from KAT.
2. Amazing that the issue that's finally bringing athletes and pop stars back into politics is the same one the DC consulting class said to avoid at all costs.
3. More, please.

Alex Pretti from his early days working at the VA
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

The idiots at Welcome Pac, Search Lite, and else where keep attacking student loan relief and borrowers.
Meanwhile, Trump’s team knows the debt is a toxic political situation.
We have the dumbest moderates in the history of the world.

Text reads "SEARCHLIGHT INSTITUTE" and is above an image of a creepy looking statue of a winged figure with arms upraised and a background of floating yellow (planet-like?) orbs connected by geometric lines with little yellow squares at the angles.
It is a screenshot from the Institute's homepage: https://www.searchlightinstitute.org/
Got an email from the reactionary centrists at Searchlight Institute urging Democrats to avoid calling to #AbolishICE and pushing instead the message of “reform and retrain.” 🤯
This is such bad advice and an invitation to let America slide further into fascism I had to write a quick rant 🧵 1/

What would be amazing if the press wrote stories about this relentlessly and there were segments on it cable TV - relentlessly talking about it.
I know chicken/egg - someone has to feed the reporters and producers of cable TV news shows etc.
