It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS or other (non-LCH) dendritic or histiocytic sarcomas cases.

Very cool to get a glimpse into how biotech was (and could be again!) more open for everyone to participate in! Thanks for introducing me to an interesting artist

Same expression got used in Diablo 2 online play back in like 2001! I didn't play Diablo 1 online so no idea if it's even older...

At least the iSeq is terrible enough on the reads/$ metric that no one should be mad to try sequencing patient material on it, so any hacks shouldn't have any issues with medical information getting leaked... Silver lining?

So I dug through the icy crust of a -20C and found raw gut extract from that species, collected by my supervisor 20+years before (I was barely 20 then!). We thawed it out, did a quick activity assay and still had detectable activity after being together with all the gut proteases for 20+ years!

This popped on my timeline and it justified an instant follow for bringing back a similar memory from early in my undergrad. I was interning in a lab that did insect biochemistry and didn't have adults on hand for the species of the protein that I got assigned to purify. 1/

Reminds me of a dinner for a synthetic biology conference at the National museum of Scotland... They tried to keep us nosy geeks contained to just the main hall, but of course someone gently nudged a barrier out of the way so we could all get a view of Dolly the Sheep without the daytime tourists!
