The term for this movement is "galumphing," and the seal can still move at up to 6-8 mph.
In "true seals", the hip is fused to the pelvis.
In sea lions, there's still some mobility in the hip joint, but limited by the mass of 'body wall' around it.

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

The Snake Star Ophiopsammus maculata. This is the largest known brittle star. It is a predatory species which ambushes prey, even very mobile species like squat lobsters. Probably not humans, but you never know.

Technically this is not a #Nudibranch and instead sits under the Sacoglossan super order. It is a sea slug and is an undescribed Eubranchus that I found in 37C (98F) degree water temperature in the United Arab Emirates. It is also photosynthetic using prey chloroplast to produce sugars.

Tall gray heron in a bush so its body is mostly obscured. Its neck looks like a long branch sticking out of the bush, and itβs looking at the photographer head on so the beak is not very obvious
I fear that I take our common Great Blue Herons for granted because I see them all the time
But every once in awhile I see an angle that reminds me of the majestic dinosaurs they are, and Iβm grateful
Looks like a murder branch

A fish resting on the bottom at a 45-degree angle on a rock with finely branching red algae growing on it. The fish appears to be looking at the camera and is facing toward the upper left corner of the picture. It has a very small mouth at the end of its pointed snout. It's tail and rear part of its body are curved away from the camera, so only 3 of the broad reddish brown vertical bars on its body are visible. The bars extend all the way up the dorsal fin. The base color of the body and top of the head is a greenish brown. Its large front/pectoral fins, which appear to be supporting the body on the rock, have many banded fin rays in red, yellow and brown. The tips of its dorsal fin rays are bright red. The underside of its head is mostly white with a few scattered brown blotches. Its eye has an oblong orange circle with a dark pupil. And four hairlike tufts on its head above the eye.
