We had breakfast last week and my mushrooms on toast came out on a giant plate with ~7 loonie sized dollops of different sauces. This is 9am.

Even my partner, who is no big foody, was confused. I told her someone had taken a fancy cooking class 20 years ago and didn't care how it tasted.

An early covid loss for us was The New York Café, in Toronto. A greek diner that was my favourite greasy spoon for at least a decade, though it was around much longer. The eggs benedict and spinach and feta omelettes will live forever in my memory.
