8/ The part the public DOESN’T know is that in the firestorm after Locke’s killing, Frey called Davis, then on vacation in Mexico. Davis — fully expecting Frey to discuss how to better control MPD — instead found the mayor pleading with him to fly home & stand with Frey at a news conference.

I hope @dewayneforminneapolis.com doesn't mind me retelling a story he told me when we first met last winter. I kept it to myself because he wasn’t telling it publicly but he mentioned it yesterday. It’s one of the things that’s leading me to rank him first. A hope-its-ok-and-I-get-right 🧵:

9/ That’s right — Jacob Frey wanted a “black friend” to run cover for him. Davis refused; the mayor acted like Davis owed him something for appointing him to the committee, in a cynically transactional calculation that twisted Davis’s volunteer public service into political fealty.

We deserve a mayor who will care for every neighborhood across Minneapolis. Our neighbors are invested deeply in their communities and they know what they need to thrive. We need leadership who is as committed to their success as they are.

Earlier this year, an individual contracted by the City stormed a City Council meeting and made threatening and homophobic remarks directed at Council Members.

Now that City Council halted giving this person additional funding, Frey is refusing to sign their action.

Ok, story’s out about DFL mayoral endorsement being revoked. Remember as you talk to folks:
- Fateh had nothing to do with faulty tabulation
- Frey finished with 30%, pathetic for an incumbent
- Maybe pay attention to the guy actually hurt, who came out of nowhere to grab 20%: DeWayne Davis.

Mayor Frey has been busy on the campaign trail taking credit for other people’s work.

And recently, Hennepin County Commissioner Irene Fernando took some time to set the record straight and to ask Mayor Frey to take meaningful action to back up his words.

Minneapolis Mayor Frey Admits To Being Misleading On 'No-Knock' Policy Changes "Language became more casual, including my own, which did not reflect the necessary precision or nuance. And I own that," Mayor Jacob Frey said.

I understand the reasons we don't want the officer who killed Amir Locke to be the top trainer at MPD, but this isn't a story about a personnel/PR screwup. Jacob Frey campaigned on banning no knock raids. That was a lie.

Considering the severely limited resources they had, it’s a wonder the convention even happened at all. The volunteers poured themselves into making it happen. If you think you could do better, then volunteer for the job.

This is the proper response to the convention. The delegates themselves decided to move on with the agenda and accept the results of the first ballot. @dewayneforminneapolis.com is a class act and consistently demonstrates how to build consensus in community.
