Colbert Doesnโ€™t Give an FCC About Calling Out CBS

Stephen Colbert said that the FCC and CBS - which is in no way a compromised or complicit organization - wouldnโ€™t allow him to broadcast an interview with Democratic State Rep James Talarico. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/a...

This is the interview Donald Trump didnโ€™t want you to see.

His FCC refused to air my interview with Stephen Colbert.

Trump is worried weโ€™re about to flip Texas.

Leon Botstein, president of @bardcollege.bsky.social, has repeatedly made public statements about his relationship with the pedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein that have turned out to be misleading, incomplete, or untrue. I'm going to make a thread to compile them all here.

The University of Michiganโ€™s archeology museum has a gorgeous, nearly full scale watercolor reproduction of the Villa of the Mysteries done in the 1920s.
Never noticed the ornate faux stone panels above the figural scenes before!

If a door gets left open here for any length of time it summons the elusive but impressive garage peacock.

Photo of the described owl art. It looks like muddy scratch marks on a mottled brown cave wall. The head is very round with two upright lines for ears and a line in the center for a beak. Numerous parallel lines suggest plumage on the wings.

The oldest known image of an owl:

More than 30,000 years ago, someone skillfully scratched the figure of a long-eared owl (Asio otus) into the soft outer layer of the walls of Chauvet Cave, France. The owl is looking backward over their wings, head turned 180 degrees

This is perhaps not the argument she thinks it is. If it's possible to "write" that fast, why do publishers need her to press the buttons? They will be able to "write" books to their own specs, without spending overhead on human authors. But other houses will publish good books, by good authors.

This Super Bowl Sunday, Iโ€™d like to introduce you all to the magical curse bowls used in Upper Mesopotamia and Syria in late antiquity. Written in Mandaic (as here) or Syriac Aramaic, they trap demons who trespass on a household by sucking them in with spiraling spells to the center of the bowl.
