I have said this for awhile: the democratic party’s general unwillingness to allow healthy dissent on the issue of Palestine will allow the fascists to “get ahead” on the issue because the antisemitic groyper faction is tolerated in the party and allowed to dissent.

Can't tell if you're being sincere or sarcastic. In case it is the latter: a ceasefire doesn't change the nature of Israel's relation to the Palestinian people, or the fact that Israeli universities cooperate fully with the apartheid regime and the ethnic cleansing.

Genuinely curious whether there have been any boycott votes so lopsided among faculty?

Literally: some opponents (4 or 5) walked out, trying to break the quorum, but we had the quorum all by ourselves, so...

The McGill Assoc. of Univ. Teachers (MAUT) yesterday *overwhelmingly* endorsed the academic and cultural boycott of Israel, & calls upon McGill to end its partnerships with Israeli universities & other institutions.

("Overwhelmingly" means 104 yea to 8 nay!)

Pretty incredible own goal by liberal institutions and many Democratic electeds to crush the exact type of protests in 2024 that would’ve been the most effective way to slow or stop ICE incursions into American cities in 2025

I work at McGill. I don't think that most people with power at McGill give two thoughts to the genocide in Gaza. If they do, it is to deny that it is a genocide. They do not have respect for the entire campus, or for most students at all.

I rarely share organizations in Gaza because it’s too hard to verify that they are doing the work they say they are but I know multiple people who were able to evacuate through the people working on this fund who are funding trips out of Gaza City (it’s $2100 a trip for 16 people).

There is a new Chotiner interview that really underscores what is unique about Israel's genocide in Gaza: it would be very easy for the world to stop it if only a few countries wanted to.

The closest they get is suggesting that comparing an AI summary to the article summarized can improve analytical skills.

That is: noticing the shortcomings in the AI is a worthy exercise. That's not a learning opportunity offered by AI except in the most facile sense!

Notably, these guidelines never say anything to substantiate their claim that "generative AI tools offer significant opportunities to improve teaching and student learning."
