LTP has varying levels of stability depending on the circuit. In many cases it decreases over time on the time scale of minutes hours or days, though measuring this in vivo is difficult because you need to maintain the same electrode placements over days.

What about an engram that hasn't been activated in a decade. Would you also not expect drift there?
