Those free bets I placed on the Knicks in October look pretty good right now πŸ‘€

Towns finals MVP at +6500
Brunson Finals MVP at +900
Win Eastern Conference +300
Win NBA Finals +750

Starters are still in the game for the Knicks under 4 minutes to go down 22…

Why are ANY of these starters still in the game for the Knicks?

Brunson shouldn’t have even been there to pick up his 6th foul.

I cannot believe the Indiana Pacers just did what they did 🀯

They might take out the Cleveland Cavs in 5!

Best for the lakers to just take this L here and regroup for next season.

Unlikely to win three in a row and still have even stronger teams awaiting. Luka hurt, LeBron hurting a bit.

Wolves in 5?

What an awful possession by the Knicks. WTF was Karl Anthony Towns doing there πŸ˜†

Inexcusable game by Karl Anthony Towns tonight.

The Pistons inexperience cost them late in game 1 and any other team would be up 2-0 on the Knicks right now!

The Nuggets are really trying to rely on Russell Westbrook in the 4th quarter of playoff games?

😬

We have a $100B media problem that needs to be addressed or we are potentially facing catastrophic consequences.

This isn't something we can coach our way out of. In the coming months I will be in a position to meet with those who are serious about finally tackling this problem head-on.

BTW I do think there are some legitimate questions regarding the origins of COVID-19, but what has happened to Joe Rogan goes far beyond that. It’s shocking how bad his show has become after watching that β€˜debate’ people keep sharing online.

I can’t think of a better clip to demonstrate how much Joe Rogan has changed.

Somewhere along the lines the guy got lost. My guess is that it happened around COVID and was fully captured by those pushing wet paper bag, flat-earth conspiracy theories.

Nice, we as a country will start putting screws into microwaves now to help pay for our iPhones.

Way to go Lutnick!

I think he legitimately felt bad about the people wrongfully sent to El Salvador, but it will likely take comedians he respects to turn on him to recognize just how lost he is.

My β€˜aha’ moment was realizing that technical limitations allowed us to communicate better directly and prevented mass platform weaponization

Modern platforms are clones of each other tweaked with better tools, but not getting to the root of the problem

They grow and devolve like their predecessors

11.04.2025 20:00 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Most feel it. The problem is the structure itself. It’s driven by noisy economic models.

We need to start with the individual first. As the platforms grow they will just devolve like the rest.

Banning smartphones in schools or coaching people on how to use social media feels like the attempts to ban games like Mortal Kombat 2 in the 90s.

Only this time they are tools people use to communicate. The cat’s out of the bag with varying levels of disagreement ensuring it will never happen.

I have some thoughts as to how Bitcoin started, but I don’t think it’s time to share those just yet.

100% spot on. This is ultimately why I decided that I needed to step away from Bitcoin.

A cult has formed around it eager to take down anyone who disagrees with this maximalist worldview.

It extends beyond X. Top voices amplify these beliefs in books, mass media and fringe networks like nostr.

We should move away from the newsfeed model.

I think it’s time and people are unknowingly calling for it by proposing all these β€˜fixes’ or thinking we can coach our way out of it.

You are not an unhinged paranoiac. Anyone who’s studied history can see the signs along with a modern day platform being weaponized to take advantage with its outsized influence.

It’s happened before with catastrophic consequences.

As someone who still follows the industry closely this is unfortunately quite true.

They are all susceptible to what happened with X if they grow at scale. Think CNN and Fox News, but on a global scale with no off button. X essentially decided the U.S. election and I'm done talking with people behind the scenes thinking that replicating the same with tweaks is the answer.

The incumbents are not going to make changes that could hurt their companies, but perhaps more disturbing is that startups are just trying to out-tweak the big players. Bluesky, apps on nostr? It's all similar with slightly different settings/tradeoffs the average user won't bother looking at.

The conversation about social media is one we've needed to have for a long time. The incentives have outweighed the consequences and we are way past needing noisy economic models (newsfeed) for discovery
