Couldn’t agree more. It read to me as a panic move from Issa after the late Cucho move. If that were the extent of it and we were rid of him this offseason, fine. But the contract extension is just awful, awful work.

He is inarguably the worst #crew96 signing of all time. That’s not to say he’s the worst player, or can’t improve.

But so far with the production we’ve had from him and the price of his contract, it’s not even close.

I think he’s a fine player, and obviously a good enough keeper for us to win a cup with. But I also think he’s one of those classic players that Crew fans overestimate because he’s cute.

He was also sub-70% in 2023. Granted, Save % is a questionable stat, but the more advanced xG-related stats tell a similar story.

Last year was better, but nowhere close to elite. And while the SZ point is true, in his lone good year he had a literal All-Star CB in front of him.
