Today, I: engaged with an SRKE meeting, helped run a three-hour Design Guild, ran a GAM706 reflective writing workshop, answered an M.A. student's career-related query, engaged with a staff meeting, negotiated a TCR for upcoming conference travel, and looked into an EOI for an event.

Today, I: engaged with a professiorate meeting; read & gave feedback on an M.A. journal entry; worked on funding for a conference; ran a HWSFS Level 1 meeting & wrote a follow-up email; prepared for tomorrow's GAM202 supervisor meeting; & other admin.

Today, I: finished the 13th iteration of my Berlin Occulture paper & its accompanying slides, with focus on visual formatting for slides & hunting down citations/proofreading for the paper. Next step will be to rehearse the delivery of the paper to optimise flow within the allocated 30-minute slot.

Yesterday, I: prepared for & engaged with a PhD supervision meeting for a new supervisee; corresponded with a game client; prepared for & ran a GAM102 tutorial meeting. Today, I: advised a second year student and worked on the 10th iteration of my Berlin Occulture paper. Polishing & proofreading now

Today, I: revised reflective writing workshop materials for GAM706; prepared for and engaged with a PhD supervision meeting; briefed research reviewers collectively and then followed up with them individually; gave feedback on the research review process; and other admin.

Yesterday, I: met with a client about an educational game project; worked on a chapter for an edited volume; playtested a game; engaged with a sync meeting and a build sync. Today, I: started studying the UK Highway Code, in my quest to upgrade my first provisional driver's license to a full one.

Today, I: ran a PhD supervision meeting; filled out & edited the supervision record sheet, and worked with a client to keep a funded project moving forward. SB1 2025 is off to a good start.

Today, on the autumnal equinox and the first day of SB1, I: engaged with a two-hour induction for the M.A. students, helped give the students a partial tour of campus; worked on a chapter for an edited volume, with the 5000-6000 word submission due in December.

Today, I: confirmed the time of my Berlin Occulture talk & offered to chair another panel; started working on another article for an edited volume; started thinking about another article for a zine; & engaged with a research meeting. Week 1 of SB1 starts next week, and there are many new beginnings.

Today, I: assigned four more outputs to reviewers as part of my duties as Research Review coordinator; wrote a briefing for the reviewers; read part of a PhD lit review chapter on the concept of metagame; worked on scheduling another PhD supervision meeting. SB1 Week 0 continues, and Week 1 beckons.

Today, in Week 0 SB1, I posted a brief for GAM712 (although the module does not start until Week 8); did marking for three GAM708 projects in re-scheduled Vivas; wrote a letter of recommendation for a former M.A. student who is applying as a lecturer; worked on scheduling a Ph.D. supervision meeting

Today, I: continued scheduling PhD supervision meetings for my 8 PhD supervisees (while working the jigsaw puzzle of the timetables of three supervisory team members for each meeting). Also, worked on comms related to conference planning.

Today, I: engaged with an SRKE meeting; fed back on a conference proposal document; followed up on research review items; approved a research review; reached out to 3 PhD students to schedule supervision meetings; & other admin before the next study block. The irst week of sessions fast approaches.

Today, I: marked an M.A. project in a re-scheduled Viva, then put my Berlin occulture paper through multiple revisions. The paper's key concepts are becoming clearer and more precise, though I still need to expand the conclusion and hunt down page numbers for citations.

Today, I: continued working on the paper to accompany my Berlin Occulture slides. Various threads from three months of reading (and a few years of thought and practice along particular lines) are converging, slowly.

This week, I: marked sixteen GAM708 projects in Vivas; re-scheduled the EC Vivas; read papers for the RDC committee; engaged with the RDC meeting; worked on the paper to accompany my Berlin Occulture slides; engaged with a research meeting; continued preparing for SB1 modules & playtested a game.

Today, I: wrote another student letter of recommendation; imported course content into Learning Space for two modules; engaged with a research meeting; did minor revisions to my Berlin Occulture talk; playtested a game; re-scheduled a Viva; signed a Tenancy renewal form for my flat. SB1 draws nearer

Today, I: playtested an M.A. student's game & gave feedback; read all of the Research Degrees papers in preparation for Wednesday's meeting; answered a GAM708 query; worked with an external game client; & other work in preparation for SB1.

Yesterday, I: read & commented on a PhD chapter; wrote a student's recommendation letter; discussed group assessment strategies. Today, I: communicated with an external client about continuing work on a student game dev brief; communicated about assessment & conference planning. SB1 fast approaches.

Today, I: met with a student to give advice about their GAM708 project, then wrote an abstract for the Haunted Technologies special issue of Revenant based on the paper about Ouija boards that I gave at the Dark Economies conference this summer. Yea, verily: we must make hay while the sun shines.
