Join us Saturday, February 7 for a Gala in our future location! We’re gonna have a blast celebrating the upcoming move and our community. We’re holding it in our new space in downtown Asheville (before we move in!).

They're absolutely not mutually exclusive.

Some GMs will pretend like whatever the players do, they foresaw it, whatever happened was their plan all along. I don't do that. I tell them that I don't have any plans, no grand design. Do whatever you want. I want them to know that they're free, and that GMing isn't hard.

This is one of the most difficult posts we have had to make. On Sunday, January 4th, we lost Hayes Christine. He has been an enthusiastic Magic player here for years. Always brewing new Commander decks, even testing out his budget builds against the cEDH masters.

Hot take: one reason I prefer OSR games is because I can't stand "builds" & optimization. Your character shouldn't be preplanned from levels 1-20 with dips into classes for no reason but metagame. PCs should advance according to the emergent narrative of play. But you do you.

Beyond the "Starting Play" section of the Dolmenwood Campaign Book, my main advice is to have the players create a party of Humans from outside the wood. Then they don't have to learn the setting before starting. Instead they can experience the wonder of the wood with fresh eyes.

Love the late 70s/eary 80s red dragon design. Here it is on the 1977 Holmes Basic Set, in the AD&D Monster Manual, and it’s AD&D Monster Card. Not to say there weren’t other variations, but I take this version as the standard of that period of D&D.

Vintage lead for my OD&D campaign. I like using them for OD&D because the 25mm scale just fits better with OD&D’s 1”=10’ than the larger modern minis.

authentic osr is from the Keep On The Borderlands region of france, otherwise it's just sparkling retro.

Can you run Keep on the Borderlands with it has always been one of the main criteria.

RIGHT LETS FIRE UP THE DISCOURSE ENGINES:

I think a degree of cross-compatibility is necessary to call something OSR, if you cant frankenstein it together with other OSR games then you're doing something else. NSR, maybe. And NSR is good! I love Into The Odd! But the compatibility element matters.
