The guard attempted to push him off when the supect bit his thumb, tearing off a portion of it. The thumb is anatomically considered one of the five fingers on each hand. The security guard had been working at Kroger for 30 days and had six to seven interactions with the suspect before the latest incident, court records state.

i don't know what they teach in journalism school, but is it normal to have to explain to people with human bodies that the thumb is one of 5 fingers on a standard hand?
