I've been writing all my life but it took me 40 years to have a project. Working on my first book. To what end? We'll see. This account to connect with writers, book lovers, readers, and all things literary.

04.11.2025 05:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm sure you could also airfry these but I don't have an airfrier so I don't know how you'd cook them.
04.11.2025 04:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you have a working oven:
Cut 2-3 russet potatoes (washed well) into 12ths. Leave skins on if possible, there's nutrients there
Toss with olive or canola oil & either seasoning or regular salt. Bake at like 400 for 35 minutes?
Kid & adult friendly, filling cheap, gluten free.
A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads: Using Generative AI? Youβre prompting with Hitler! GenAI is a Fascist Project! Try using your brain instead Donβt surrender your creativity to the tech billionaireβs control

03.11.2025 23:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I donβt believe we can outengineer paypro censorship
But I DO believe in @conjured.ink. What they are building is akin to a decentralized itchio, retailers as individual self-hosted shops instead of all hosted via one big platform
Support them, they need your aid

Just reposting this as a reminder to myself that while writing a heist, stuff can be dumb

03.11.2025 01:02 β π 126 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0Also I'm pretty sure the computer tracks everyone at all times. They ask it to locate people all the time. Or at least they do on the Enterprise; maybe not on DS9? I'm not as well versed.
I mean, they can also be interrupted at any moment 24/7 by a voice text from their boss. What privacy? π
I'd love to be able to replicate some of the scaffolding. Like, start my kid off with very basic word processing, drawing, simple games. Then some limited web access. And then opening up as they get older. And having conversations along the way of course, the heart of all parenting
03.11.2025 00:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah I suppose you could say this. I grew up along with the internet, and in a way that means it was scaffolded for me. Started with a DOS computer with just typing and some games, then got a computer with a word processor, then the Internet in the late 90s which was still nascent
03.11.2025 00:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I would love to be able to build custom libraries of videos for my kids!! It wouldn't make YouTube much money tho probably
03.11.2025 00:51 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0None of this is perfect, and would definitely mean controlling parents could cut kids off from information, but that's true now. No tool is going to make up for bad parenting, but putting accessible tools in parents hands would help the ones who are trying but are feeling overwhelmed
03.11.2025 00:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh also! Rather than making adults share personal info to verify ages, how about the option to report that children under 18 are using the device. Then the computer operates in kid or teen mode and can only be overridden by a parental password.
03.11.2025 00:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0We're pretty permissive with screen time but have deleted YouTube from all child accessible devices because the algorithm is garbage, but that sucks bc there is a lot of great content there. Since I don't have time to sit and watch everything w my kids, I just block it.
03.11.2025 00:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The biggest thing would be simply tools that require opting in rather than opting out or blocking. Like, kids YouTube, for example, should not have an algorithm at all -- it should literally be custom playlists of only videos or maybe channels that you authorize
03.11.2025 00:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0So, my kids are 7 and under, so for that age, simple tech that can be scaffolded as kids get older. Like, a tablet (or even better, a computer) that is literally blank until parents add something. A children's browser that starts with a small whitelist you choose. Truly intuitive parental controls.
03.11.2025 00:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Who's gonna do it?
03.11.2025 00:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Okay, so you'd be looking at like mid Decemberish? Um...sign me up if you've got room! I think you should be able to shoot me a DM :)
03.11.2025 00:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah as a parent to young kids I have a lot of ideas about what would make it easier to guide my kids online but 1) no one's asking and 2) age verification, at least in the manner governments are enacting it, is nowhere on the list
03.11.2025 00:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Creating more embodied characters, especially side characters. A lot of times they feel like props.
03.11.2025 00:07 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm writing my first fight scene right now and uh. It's a mess. I hate violence so I'm trying to lean into the embarrassing, flailing, uncoolness that is an actual fight as opposed to something staged
03.11.2025 00:01 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd be potentially interested. What's your timeline on needing feedback?
02.11.2025 23:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A huge one for me! I read it so many times.
02.11.2025 19:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I at least get to think of this Keanu Reeves clip every time I have to do this.
02.11.2025 18:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I will!
02.11.2025 18:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The thinking was done by humans, to be clear, but the neural network helped identify and analyze potential proteins, which is at least excruciatingly slow for humans to do.
02.11.2025 04:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Now this is the kind of AI we were promised! Less art, more chemistry, please.
02.11.2025 04:38 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The opening scene to my WIP. (Part of it at least; not sure how very first start the book). The description is vivid and unique, I think.
