I do not advocate for any voting procedures that attempt to disenfranchise voters. Period. I do think incentives could be useful. That's it.

I would love to see some valuable, direct benefits applied to citizens who put in the effort to maybe take a free civics course or smthng as part of the normal voting processes who then regularly participate in elections.

Yes, I think that's a great idea. Voters need to be informed about rules, regs, processes, possible outcomes...as well as candidates or policies.
I'm not advocating punishment for non voters as much as unique benefits for voters. I'd like to see voting rewarded more as a civic duty.

Folks are "forced" to get drivers licenses, for example. They get them happily, willingly, because they want to participate in the benefit of "driving". It's mandatory. I'm just trying to highlight the necessity of participation, not set up black/white absolutes for arguments' sake.

Voting needs to be mandatory. Voting needs to be required if citizens want a driver's license or business license, or to buy a home or go to college, etc...
We must make voting a necessary part of life in society, or you don't get the full benefits of that society.
Use it or lose it.
