Hell of an experience working with Matthew Barney and composer Jonathan Bepler. We worked with opera singers, classical musicians....I learned a lot I know that. Honestly it was this experience that gave me the confidence to work with Yo Yo Ma. I left this work wondering what else we could've done.

I'm way too Gen X to call myself an influencer. Lol. 😆

I get a lot of labels, but the one i use for myself is "educator"

However, if I tell someone I'm an educator their eyes roll back. Yet if I say author, artist, singer etc they get all excited.

I guess I'm just wired different. For me, the exciting thing is the education part...

When I said ok to this panel, I had no idea who the other panelists were....😲

In surveys, my students consistently express that they stress less and learn more than they expected. Try it my fellow educators. I know we have standards to uphold, but these are human beings. Treat them with care and they'll be excited about what you have to teach. The rest takes care of itself.

This is exactly why I work with Yo-Yo Ma. He is as real as it gets. Love this.

I started this project in 2021. Releasing it during America's 250th birthday wasn't the original plan. Just lots of struggles on my end getting it written. Can't thank my editor enough. She truly makes my writing look super polished.

Writing nonfiction for kids means dotting your i's and crossing your t's repeatedly. Gotta get the details right. My editor emailed that If You Lived During the American Revolution is at the printer. A few last second details wrapped up and real books get made soon. Cue the anxiety...

Just thinking. Heart block almost took my life in 2019. Seeing your chart with 10 seconds of flat line is sobering. Life changing. But the important part is, I lived. Everyone tells me it's because I have more to do. This latest work with Yo Yo Ma is truly starting to take on elements of that.

When I was 16, I was a part time bowling mechanic on AMF machines. Actually really liked it. The sleuthing to figure out the problem and then getting the machine back up and running smooth was kind of a rush.

How the hell did I get invited to an executives only conference on expanding a customer base. I thought it was a sales pitch but they're hardcore trying to recruit me and willing to pay everything. Still don't know how they settled on me as an invitee. Turned them down.

Still a few tickets left! (Very few). Between this and Wabanaki Stories we've sold out that 2000 seat theater 6 times.

It's super competitive so I don't go into it thinking I'm gonna win. Still gonna throw my hat in. Native theater, music, and nonfiction writing is a weird mix but I might be the right fit some year.
