Yes! Exactly this! Surely, β€œhangs around with rich folks and has a history of getting a bit too pally with them” prompts at least a few questions…?

I was startled today to realise he’s being held up as a model and even a martyr among some Christians here in the UK. How did people come to align ourselves so strongly on issues that drive tribalism and cause so much more heat than light? Whatever happened to loving your neighbour?

My quote of the day

It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it.

But really, is an NHS settlement anyone’s business? It’s journalists digging through the bins stuff isn’t it? How horrible that she’s had to share that detail.

Angela Rayner admits underpaying tax on flat as PM backs her The deputy prime minister says she has referred herself for an ethics probe by the PM's adviser.

I have a lot of sympathy with Rayner. A recently divorced mum of a disabled kid, with a constituency outside London, her housing situation is going to be complicated. This ain’t no duck house. β€œRayner admits underpaying tax on Hove flat as PM backs her” www.bbc.com/news/article...

Home Office bans asylum seekers from buying luxury goods and services Purchase of snowmobiles, timeshares and furs prohibited, despite asylum seekers receiving only Β£9.95 a week

It’s no surprise the Gov’t banned asylum seekers from buying toys and haircuts. Some councils refuse to store toys and clothes for families seeking emergency housing. People in emergencies need basics for daily life, not a nanny Gov’t thinking it knows better :-( www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

More than 60,000 households in London are homeless and living in temporary accommodation.

What does the latest data show? Why does it matter? And what needs to change?

More and more landlords switching to holiday lets Chronic shortage of rental properties in the Capital has been exacerbated by rising number of holiday lets.

A quote from Susie Dye from Trust for London, that says:
"The housing crisis will be the defining issue for London in 2025. It’s urgent that the government takes real, ambitious action. Not just for the good of London, but for the economic growth it’s relying on so that everyone is better off."

The housing crisis will continue to loom over London this year.

A record number of people are homeless and in temporary accommodation, and extortionate housing costs push many into poverty.

Just had a scam call about β€œmy housing disrepair problems”. They’re so common now that scammers have an expectation that people will give their personal data to a stranger on robodial in connection with them :-(

I’m sure this is a metaphor. Just tried unsuccessfully to buy a Bible at St Paul’s Cathedral. Had a meandering journey to get there. Couldn’t see an entrance where the map said to look, the main doors were shut. And it shuts at 6, so instead I am off to Daunt to try my luck there…

Cat politics: this bruiser rules our neighbourhood. He appears to be hanging out for a glimpse of our New Kat On the Block, just to let him know who’s boss. (I had never seen him hang out there before NKOTB’s arrival).
