I have a small cheapo amazon one and... It works. It's not great, but it removes dust from my computer decently well.
Unfortunately my computer has a seemingly unremovable layer from when I was doing construction & did a poor job of protecting the computer from the dust, which it doesn't remove ๐
You can cap the values to the screen size to get the point where you should show the indicator, and find the rotation also through that point.
Sorry if you've tried all this, just brainstorming a bit.
Maybe a bit naive of me but, another thing to check if you haven't already:
I just tested Camera.unproject_position, and it returns negative values if above or to the left of the viewport and values past screen size. Could you simplify the code using that? It's a cpp call, so maybe fast?
I know you said time slicing makes the indicators run at a lower fps, but if you can delay the position updates a few frames, you could in theory interpolate every frame, but update the target position only every x frames, assuming that's causing some of the bottleneck.
07.07.2025 21:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Maybe too simple of a solution, but you could try splitting how many indicators you update per frame? I imagine you don't need the updates to occur every single frame for every single indicator.

Beautiful read, summarizing perfectly some of the hardest challenges with freelancing.

It's definitely not perfect, there's things I wish I could do, but it works well enough for me!

Funnily enough, I can still see and open your post. I scrolled a bit and it showed up.

Screenshot of Dawn of Defense. There is an island surrounded by trenches. On the island there are trees, buildings, and a large stone tower with a blue light beam coming out of the top. The tower has a door that leads to the trenches. There is also a game UI, showing one of the selected buildings.
Here's a screenshot from Dawn of Defense, an RTS + Tower Defense game I'm working on with the amazing people at @6side-studio.bsky.social!

Is there a hashtag or feed for Game Dev knowledge sharing? I want to see tips, tricks, little-known facts. I want to absorb knowledge from areas I don't usually interact with.
30.05.2025 15:31 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Code structure is harddd to teach but I think it's also hard to learn from teaching. I find it's more of a practice thing. You learn by making bad architecture decisions and then learning from the pain points that come from them.
This is particularly true in Unity.
Well, it finally happened. Someone trained an AI on my voice, and used it to generate narration for their YouTube video.
Feels pretty bad! Don't like it!
I've submitted a privacy complaint with YouTube - hopefully they'll take it down soon.

11.03.2025 11:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For me, the convention of prefixing an underscore to the variable name is enough, but I do find that both godot's editor and something like Rider aren't great at showing you what is and isn't prefixed with an underscore, compared with something like PyCharm for Python.
