Godot 4.5 will have localization previews in editor! I've been trying out localization and was missing this feature, so I'm glad it's getting added very soon

I have a small cheapo amazon one and... It works. It's not great, but it removes dust from my computer decently well.

Unfortunately my computer has a seemingly unremovable layer from when I was doing construction & did a poor job of protecting the computer from the dust, which it doesn't remove ๐Ÿ™ƒ

You can cap the values to the screen size to get the point where you should show the indicator, and find the rotation also through that point.

Sorry if you've tried all this, just brainstorming a bit.

Maybe a bit naive of me but, another thing to check if you haven't already:
I just tested Camera.unproject_position, and it returns negative values if above or to the left of the viewport and values past screen size. Could you simplify the code using that? It's a cpp call, so maybe fast?

I know you said time slicing makes the indicators run at a lower fps, but if you can delay the position updates a few frames, you could in theory interpolate every frame, but update the target position only every x frames, assuming that's causing some of the bottleneck.

07.07.2025 21:51 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Maybe too simple of a solution, but you could try splitting how many indicators you update per frame? I imagine you don't need the updates to occur every single frame for every single indicator.

Beautiful read, summarizing perfectly some of the hardest challenges with freelancing.

"And we buckle down againโ€”what other choice do we have? We conjure more hours. We work harder. And our work is still enjoyable. But sometimes we ask ourselves is it worth it? Are we earning what weโ€™re worth?"

Also using thunderbird, in an effort to de-google. Took me a while to get used to it, but now the simple UI and the fact you can connect multiple accounts just kinda clicked.

It's definitely not perfect, there's things I wish I could do, but it works well enough for me!

Screenshot of Dawn of Defense. There is an island surrounded by trenches. On the island there are trees, buildings, and a large stone tower with a blue light beam coming out of the top. The tower has a door that leads to the trenches. There is also a game UI, showing one of the selected buildings.

Code structure is harddd to teach but I think it's also hard to learn from teaching. I find it's more of a practice thing. You learn by making bad architecture decisions and then learning from the pain points that come from them.

This is particularly true in Unity.

Well, it finally happened. Someone trained an AI on my voice, and used it to generate narration for their YouTube video.

Feels pretty bad! Don't like it!

I've submitted a privacy complaint with YouTube - hopefully they'll take it down soon.

I was a British tourist trying to leave America. Then I was detained, shackled and sent to an immigration detention centre Graphic artist Rebecca Burke was on the trip of a lifetime. But as she tried to leave the US she was stopped, interrogated and branded an illegal alien by ICE. Now back home, she tells others thinking...

Everyone should read this, especially for the bits in the article that give us some insight into what these detention prisons used by ICE are like.

And no one, no one, should be traveling to the US if they can avoid it. No one.

For me, the convention of prefixing an underscore to the variable name is enough, but I do find that both godot's editor and something like Rider aren't great at showing you what is and isn't prefixed with an underscore, compared with something like PyCharm for Python.

I'm pretty sure this is just a natural consequence of gdscript being a dynamically typed language (and also seemingly largely inspired by Python).
