Considering this is the setup, the denouement is remarkably boring.

It’s been pretty remarkable how much Americans have continued to blame Republicans more than Democrats for the shutdown, despite it being Democrats who are seeking the concession (i.e. an extension of the enhanced Obamacare subsidies).

As a longtime teacher, I am often shocked when people complain about behavior of young people instead of realizing that we are supposed to thoughtfully craft classroom culture through routines & agreements. This overlooking of teacher responsibility is especially common in high school and college

It can obviously be painful to be on the opposite side of a values conflict from students, but I think it helps to contextualize that conflict as part of what higher ed *is supposed to be about*

We should expect that values will be contested in/around college classrooms, and the substance and style of those values conflicts will evolve over time.

If she felt like her academic freedom was genuinely threatened, that reflects a problem w/ Harvard's administration, not her students

Assuming for a minute that Lepore is accurately reporting a change in how her students related to each other/to faculty: its a classroom-management challenge, not some kind of cultural pathology
