This was a special moment waking up at a campsite near Nordegg. That time of year when the sun seems to get up later and later each day.

Hiked my painting gear the 22 km into the Fryatt Valley over the weekend. What a beautiful spot. Frosty overnight, hot days, and cloudless skies - a rare treat in the Canadian Rockies.

I’m learning a lot - like that I tend to underestimate how much red is in colours, and overestimate how much change is needed for a colour or value shift.

This one took 41 minutes of effort so far. I am hoping my speed will improve with practice.

Part of my ongoing effort to improve my painting skills! For the last few days I’ve been waking up at 6 am to do these little copies of paintings I like.

Maybe challenging but your results are impressive! The way the brightly lit petals jump out, and the brilliance of the sky. So great!!!!

You nailed the greens! Those are so tricky!

I biked across town to paint, then panicked about an approaching storm and biked home. But at least I made this backyard painting of the clouds. I love this SMLT brown paper so much, colours pop on it!

My friends HATE this print! “It looks like grandma’s embroidery.”

Joke’s on them. Grandmas are cool. I made this design one icy winter day. I walked into a flower shop and my heart filled at the sight of the bright blooms and earthy smell. Finished painting the edition of 25 this morning.

Beautiful day at the Whyte Ave Art Walk this past Sunday. It was my first time but I hope it won’t be my last! Thank you to all who came out to support our Edmonton artist community!
