It’s shocking we even need to discuss this, but: if you were born after 1970, get your measles immunity checked if you’re not sure you got two vaccines doses. I did it, it was easy, and the whole process is covered under OHIP if you’re in Ontario. Measles is no joke — be safe!

Disappointing Buy Canadian experience today. I bought some Habitant Soup thinking it was the most Canadian soup ever. Label has a Canada symbol and says it’s from Mississauga. But if you look closely, the symbol says “designed in” above it and below it says Product of USA. Check labels carefully!

I agree. Lots of people don’t have a choice, especially teachers and families with school-aged kids. But if you can travel in shoulder season, it’s definitely the better option.

Oh, I almost forgot: New Brunswick’s Fundy Coast! New Brunswick has some beautiful drives and doesn’t get nearly enough credit. If you want untouched views of the highest tides in the world, this is the place!

- Quebec’s maritime routes. The drive around the Gaspé Peninsula is almost on par with the Cabot Trail for views but isn’t as widely known. And for the truly adventurous, I cannot recommend enough the drive on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River to Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve.

- Lake Superior’s north shore between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay. This has to be one of Canada’s most underappreciated drives. Pukaskwa National Park and the many Ontario Parks in this region are absolute gems. Arguably the best in Ontario for people who love hiking, paddling, etc.
