I’ll be 64 next year. I’m self-employed and expect my (solo) health insurance to cost more than $25,000 plus copays next year.

But given what's happening in Washington these days, I'm not sure Medicare will be a lot better -- if it's available at all.

I have to stay in network and there are other restrictions on my care. I guess the good news is that 2026 will be my last year in the health insurance market because I will become Medicare eligible at the end of the year.

I'm self-employed and looking at more than $20,000 for health insurance next year (just for me) -- not including copayments. If I got sick, it could cost closer to $30,000 with copayments. And while this isn't the cheapest plan on the market, it's not a Cadillac plan either.

I was notified today by my health insurer that thanks to One Big Beautiful Bill, my health insurance costs are likely to increase by $400-$500 per month next year. That's the amount of the INCREASE -- not the total cost, which is already well over $1000/month (not including copayments). 🧵
