I remember our Cinema Centre Video had both VHS and Beta sections, at least for a while. I remember specifically because they had Thundercats Betamax tapes but we had a VHS machine so I wasn't able to get my folks to rent them.

This is probably a generational thing too. Older folks would have had to distinguish between Betamax and VHS video cassettes. Once Beta was off the market, we would just commonly say that we had it "on tape" or "on video."

Yeah it is "floppy" as the opposite of "hard" disks, but there might have been an Apple vs IBM terminology difference that I'm not aware of? Both 5.25 and 3.5 drives were FDD (floppy disk drive) on my IBM computers.

I keep thinking about getting an mp3 player but I also honestly don't know that I could cope without music streaming or at least human programmed radio. I get too mercurial about what I'm listening too.

I think relative age (the gap) becomes less important as absolute ages of both parties increase. There's a much bigger difference between a 28 year old getting involved with an 18 year old, than like a 40 year old and a 30 year old.
