I like it when a movie is fun and kind of stupid, which Multiverse of Madness was, but what made me the most angry was that there *was* a good movie in there, and then every few minutes it had to remind you it was a Marvel movie. Something good buried under layers of slop. At least ROS was just bad.

I think the answer is probably also Rise of Skywalker, but a close second is Multiverse of Madness wherein I walked out and decided to never see a Marvel movie again.

Just need you to see this. I'm deeply sorry, but also it's just so spot on.

Is this a safe space to share that I’ve been really drawn into watching videos of people playing Blood on the Clocktower recently?

Magic, the game itself, isn't really one singular thing. It's sand at a beach. Eventually you realize the fun part of building sandcastles is who you're building them with, and eventually knocking them down.

Someone out there thinks this is a lovely romance novel. (They have not read it).

No better way to spend 150 months of my Patreon subscription, in my opinion.

Disability is a reflection of the society in which someone lives. A wheelchair user in a world where ramps are plentiful and doors are all automatic doesn’t need to walk. Their wheelchair is the only thing they need to live their life. Why would they want space age tennis shoes?

One thing about depictions of disability in Sci-Fi, like the wheelchair user in the Star Trek show, that a lot of people seem to not understand is that, by and large, the disability accommodations we have available now *are* the best option. Wheelchairs and ramps work! They’re great!

The death of Scalia was the first time I truly understood the idea of “if you don’t want people to celebrate your death, live a better life.” So many people just finally gave up on being respectful towards someone who died after a long, disrespectful life.

Sci-fi that deals with questions of artificial consciousness is interesting because it's pushing us to think about what it means to be human. It functions as a metaphorical mirror.

Being shocked by a computer programmed to play pretend reflects on us too, but not in a particularly flattering way

It is seriously one of the best pieces of Magic fiction in the full 33 year history.

Literally carrying an old Magic novel MMPB in my back pocket today while walking to lunch. When we (hopefully) get a paperback release of the upcoming Strixhaven novel, it'd be incredible to get it in MMPB size, even though that's nearly impossible these days.

I know someone, somewhere, has done research or written about how subject matter experts will recognize when AI gets something wrong about their subject, but will often fail to recognize when it's wrong about other subjects. You know what I mean? I need to find something published about this.

Yeah but they didn't even have girl movie stuff lined up, or anything at all. Netflix announced last week that they were making official merch for the movie that was the biggest hit of last October.

absolutely mind-blowing that Netflix just had no marketing plans at all for KPop Demon Hunters, no merch licenses lined up, nothing. and Netflix wants to *buy* Warner Bros. just kind of insane.

I understand why people think that the NYT article about kicking caffeine is part of a larger fascist-linked movement for "pure" living, but as someone who has recently stopped drinking caffeine and alcohol for personal and health reasons, it feels weird seeing some of these arguments!

A single paid vacation day for a CEO of a company that isn't even, like, one of the big ones could pay off every debt I have ever accrued and then put a sizeable down payment on a decent house in my city.

Just been angry all day because this morning I thought about how a CEO who gets paid $25 million a year, which doesn't even put them in the top 100 highest earning CEOs btw, could use one single day of their pay to wipe out all of my debts more than twice over.
