i imagine there’s about to be an influx of MAGA chuds spewing their bullshit but i really can’t stress enough that if we don’t give them oxygen, they’ll get bored and leave. block early and often.

I feel bad for zohran. Like he'a clearly a bright, energetic, talented, and highly motivated person who has to do these humiliation rituals where his ideas are being put on the same level as two gross weirdass tired old white guys w nothing to offer. It's insulting and embarrassing.

As impressive as that opening scene is, I also feel it spoils the mystery. Instead of following a couple that gradually realizes what danger they're in, the viewer is waiting for them to catch up.

If I do it again, this will be, I think, the fifth year in a row I've watched Hocus Pocus on Halloween. Should I mix it up some?

If it means anything, I've enjoyed your content, and I wish you the best in whatever pursuit you choose next. You're absolutely right about social media and all its toxicity; it could accomplish so much, but it's being used in the absolute worst ways.

British folk horror and occult characters to be on Halloween, a thread.

1. Mr Fisher from Robin Redbreast (1970).
Catchphrase: “The study of religions is one of my many interests.”
You’ll need:
- Tweed trilby
- Mutton chops
- Cracked spectacles
- A copy of The Golden Bough

My personal favorite Wes Craven movie. And Fool is one of the best child protagonists of any horror film.

Wikipedia:Signs of AI writing - Wikipedia

Wikipedia editors trying to fend off the onslaught of AI crap have crowdsourced some telltale signs of LLM-generated writing; it might be handy for editors and proofreaders generally. Thanks to @ellenrykers.com for pointing me to it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

A vast majority of the evil the admin is committing is just our institutions and elites bowing to him thinking it's not worth the fight.

The more we can show that refusing to fight has worse consequences the better

It is so damn obvious the trans sports issue is a drummed up nonsense moral panic masquerading as “common sense” - but if you look deeper for two seconds you see how the whole point of sex segregated sports is to defund women athletics & to build and propagandize the western idea of women as weak.

Ezra Klein Accidentally Shows How the Media Brought Us Trump The prominent liberal pundit made up a fake version of Charlie Kirk to praise, laundering his reputation the way a lot of mainstream media launders MAGA

Ezra Klein went beyond opposing political violence to extol Charlie Kirk for doing politics "exactly the right way," making up a fictional version of Kirk to praise.

That distortion, with its indulgence of bad faith, is a perfect illustration of the larger media failure that helps Trump.

Hakeem Jeffries voted for Charlie Kirk Day but still isn’t sure if he’ll endorse Zohran Mamdani. This is why the approval rating of the Democratic Party is lower than Trump’s or the GOP.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirk’s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.
