I still can't get over how much hatred there is for trans people in the Labour party. How has it got this bad? It's not just the policies, it's the extreme dehumanisation and just utter disregard for us in any way at all.

It’s both. The two go hand in hand. Surveillance supports censorship - if you know what people are saying, it’s easy to censor it. Further, it encourages self-censorship.
