I killed mine like 15 years ago because it was just a constant source of irritation and spam.

Like, if I decide I want to get a job after 18 years of freelancing, how do I go about that? Are we still using Monster.com? Oh god do I have to a fucking LinkedIn account?

And to be clear, I'm one of the lucky ones with those numbers. I didn't lose a subsidy because I didn't rely on one in the first place. But our system is so fundamentally broken that just avoiding bankruptcy or preventable death now costs a family of 3 about $30,600 a year.

Another year, another $350 a month increase in health insurance. Why do freelancers charge so much, you might ask? Because our health insurance is practically 2x our mortgage and going up 15% PER YEAR.

I cannot raise my prices by 15% per year. Everything about healtcare in the U.S. is fucked.

I definitely do not evaluate my potential clients using the exact same system. Definitely.

It all starts to feel like madness.

Many on the right seem to take a special glee in causing us pain, targeting things that make them feel nothing or little. Lately, I wish I could cut out the parts of me that experience sympathy. Life would be so much easier if I didn't care. But that's just how I am built.
