I'm always so split on this topic. It is both true that educational institutions are used as gatekeepers for who deserves to lead a middle-class life, and also true that higher education is (or ought to be) about the cultivate of the person's mind and spirit and everyone from every class deserves it

I'm always so split on this point-- yes, college should not be necessary to life a comfortable and dignified life. And also, education shouldn't be treated as means-end avenue and everyone should get the chance to attain higher education as a way of cultivating mind and spirit!
