Including the prompt implies high levels of something!
To be fair it's early days of LLMs, I'm sure it will bed in with time, although one scenario is that we do settle for slop, I can see that happening.

There is a wave of ransom attacks on supermarkets and their supply chains happening in the UK at present. I don't know who's doing them but the sector specificity seems to imply coordination and a goal beyond mere money.
22.05.2025 06:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Of course because we can't make a direct comparison without access to a suitable parallel universe it will always be a contentious subject.
21.05.2025 20:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0While I was not happy with Mr Biden's approach to Ukraine or Gaza I believe that both will be significantly worse off with Mr Trump in charge. Still he's only been at it a few months, perhaps we should revisit the topic in a couple of years.

21.05.2025 20:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's loads! I had no idea. I read City Destroyer and maybe one other one.
I might browse the internet later and have a look for some.
Thanks for inadvertently bringing it to my attention :)
Well I by and large agree with you :)

The things people do for fun. At some point in the past I had time to read and understand it (at least it felt like it at the time).
I still struggle with the idea that some people, many of whom have been adversely affected by the cold still seem wedded to the whole idea and would ideally like some more. Like an insane Oliver Twist π
19.05.2025 08:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'd suggest not having a referendum on whether or not you should have a cold in the first place!
Maybe consult an expert like a Dr. instead.
Is it an Asterix reference?

I like to think so. Individually one can be as bonkers or venal as any human but as a collective they often make sense :)

Sadly no scientists but an amusing way to while away few minutes.
My perceived peer group is radio 4 and scientists. Make of that what you will!
I like my ivory tower π
Evidence π
I'm under the impression that people go along with their perceived peer group. Evolutionarily speaking this would seem very efficient, a kind of wisdom of the crowds combined with not getting anyone's back up. Plus is saves the individual a lot of thinking, which is expensive.
It's legacy being a lot of unhappy people and no good fix within the existing mainstream economic discourse.
But I'm only an armchair economist!
At which point I'm angry with those exploiting the weakness in human cognition or failing to at least have a good stab at showing leadership.
Personality I blame a lot of the current populism on the Chicago school of economics and the enthusiastic adoption of it by Regan and Thatcher.
I used to be pretty cross with people clearly voting against both their own interests and that of the country, species and planet (at least to my mind) but from what I've absorbed over the years of listening to wonks and nerds is that my expectations are unrealistic.
18.05.2025 20:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's too abstracted for most humans, something of a flaw for liberal democracy. Wonks and geeks pay enough attention to make causal connections (sometimes even the right ones) but the bulk have better things to do, like working out how to pay the next bill.
18.05.2025 20:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0To be fair the sales pitch for leave did include being better off, so I can see why some might be disappointed. Just a shame they can't attribute leaving the EU with becoming worse off.
As for taking back control, that's worked out well *sighs*
I liked it 30 years ago but it's an alternate future history.
Thought the French empire was refreshingly different, which was the bit we played in. Didn't spend much time in space although I do have the ship combat rules, which I really like in theory. No idea how they play in practice.
Plus the markets look over confident about the continued rule of law, and free and fair elections, although the latter are over a year away so maybe don't matter yet?
17.05.2025 07:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you. An interesting read. For me it's hard to think that there's no market manipulation going on in amongst the chaos. None in the administration seem too bother about laws and they have a great opportunity to make money. The greatest!

16.05.2025 19:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Telegraph has been degenerating the BBC for years. They are quite good at not exactly lying while not conveying the truth.
Not that it would excuse the situation were it to be the case but I don't imagine there's many people in Gaza who don't feel pretty aggrieved about their situation.
Where as here we've had 20% of the usual spring rain and that's in an semi-arid part of the country. What we need is a tunnel! :D
Wishing you luck with your garden.
I'd probably go with β of the funding to established researches, β to recently graduated people wanting to start a lab who are 'hand picked' & the remainder allocated to randomly selected recent graduates. However as an experiment that's surely not optimally designed, so only an initial suggestion.
