In my opinion, before you can depict a slice of their life you need to actually figure out what their life actually looks like: Where do they live? Is it a real world place or a fictional setting? What do they do for a living? How did they get into their current living situation? How do they dress?

Squid like aliens working in a garage on a mad-max like war buggy

A client commission of some Little Dudes working on a buggy for their client species of war-like reptilian beings.

I like working out of non-humanoids might perform the mundane work we humans are used to. Why not hang from the ceiling?

On one hand, "Oh that's funny, I'm an American Diplomat too and I shouldn't have to prove it either", on the other hand Bundespolizei.

If they don't verify his identity, are they just supposed to take his word for it?

Raijira floats in a null gravity area wearing only a light bodysuit that leaves her powerful limbs exposed. Mouth slightly agape in mild annoyance as some tool has likely floated off beyond easy reach.

Raijira dons a gel-core space suit that envelops the user in a (likely nanomachine-based) gel which is framed by an open-frame hard suit to reinforce and enhance movement.

also lol, I can see the point of closed species in that you might not want everyone to essentially make OCs for your personal setting, potentially drowning out your own work etc. but some are honestly treated like NFTs

I was very confused for most of this post after I took "Resistance Bands" to mean bands of armed resistance fighters in the very beginning.
